Chibatman

This is Chibatman, he is a 40 year old businessman that wanted to raise spirits after the tsunami in 2011. He rode around the city of Chiba in his 'batpod' and earned the title of Chibatman.

Japanese Exchange at Rossett 2014 by McKenzie Collins

Japanese Exchange at Rossett 2014-2015 (November 2014)

It was great to meet the Ishigami Junior High School students and to teach them about our culture, as well as letting them talk about theirs! The Japanese learnt from the Japanese club helped to start conversations, switching to online translators if required. Overall, I had a great time with everyone and I can't wait to see them again in Japan!

Japanese exchange in Harrogate 2014-2015 by Joshua Wilson

Japanese exchange in Harrogate 2014-2015 (November 24th to November 27th 2014)

Where did you go? ---- what do you do?
On the Japanese exchange in Harrogate 2014, we went to York and Harrogate with our lovely exchanges from Japan. We spent time at the York Minster and visited the shambles with or new friends; we also went to the national railway museum which was a lovely experience as the guys loved the trains! We also had a little look at the 1962 bullet train which we will be going on in Japan, (hopefully it the little bit newer 2011 model we go on though). In Harrogate, we visited the council chambers and be the mayor, Oliver's exchange got up with two girls and dressed up as traditional English mayors and councillors; they looked really cool! As well as all this we went to the pump rooms which we very smelly but interesting, later me and Yuma walked home.

What did you do with your exchanges after school?

Me and my exchange, Yuma Endo played basketball for at least an hour each night and we also went to activities organised by Mr Bulmer and Mrs Horsfall, such as bowling and a quiz! It was all so fun!

HOW TO MAKE AN ORIGAMI SHURIKEN by Bram Fisher

HOW TO MAKE AN ORIGAMI SHURIKEN!!!

1)Get a square piece of paper (any colour, any size).
2)Cut it in half.
3)Fold both pieces in half again (top to bottom) then unfold it.
4)Make a diagonal crease so the bottom of the paper touches the fold on one piece of paper and on both ends. Fold it on the other side at the bottom.
5)On the other piece of paper do the opposite eg if on the first half of paper you folded the top left to the middle you would fold the top right to the middle. They should now look like a diamond shape.
6)Slot both halfs of paper together and tape it if needed so it won't fall apart.

Japanese Club by Bethany

Japanese club is great fun and interesting. We learn all different kind of phrases like Konkiwa and so on that means and hello.

When the Japanese students came to visit rossett school, they sang a great song. They did it really well and when the Japanese club did the assembly in the sports hall, they gave us some toys to play with.

It's great to have Japanese students and their culture and other cultures in the world!

Kendama けんだま

We enjoyed Kendama which was a gift from Ishigami school.
This is so addictive!

2014-2015 Academic Year!

Konnichiwa!

新学期が始まりましたね。イギリスもすっかり秋です。
秋といえば、イギリスでは、プラムやりんご、洋梨にイチジクが旬の季節となりました。

Our 2014-2015 year has started in September and our Japanese club welcomed some lovely new students.

On 26th September, our school did the sponsored walk and walked 13miles.
I also walked with students wearing Ishigami School, our partner school's PE top with my name on.

There are some videos and photos, so please take a look!

Japanese Silk Paint

Today, I was involved one of our Art Day.
I did the Japanese silk painting!

Japanese silk painting was run by Katy who has her business called Japan Crafts.
She has lots of knowledge about Japanese textiles and she goes to Japan twice a year for business.

This is how we do it.

We will be given some fabric paint and Japanese silk painting sheet.
Then, really, we colour them in.
Good thing is about this golden outline, it stops the colour goes over, so the finish will be so nice and neat.

Now, these are the picture of half way through.

Can you see....?

Lovely colour coordination!
Blending, fading... You will thoroughly enjoy the texture of silk.

You could also have a lovely effect using rock salt, too.
After you put some paint, you then put some rock salt on the top and wait for 10 min.
You will see that these rock salt absorb some paint, so this makes the picture some sort of shining affect.

Then you can make it into a greeting card.
Hand made card... Sounds nice, isn't it!

This one is so beautifully done!!!

Japanese silk painting was so calming, relaxing... really beautiful. We had such a good time.
Every students were so engaged and really happy enjoying this painting.

Thank you, Katy.
This is her website.

You can buy them online, too.
